Strengthening Mandates

The “Strengthening Mandates” program provides technical support to city councilwomen and state representatives in the early stages of their careers, with a focus on Black, Indigenous, and LBTI women.

Our goal is to strengthen these women's autonomy, expand their legislative roles, and support their advancement into higher political positions.

We offer exclusive products tailored for a selected network of councilwomen and state representatives, as well as open-access products available to parliamentarians across Brazil.

Letter of Principles

To receive our support, parliamentarians must be committed to defending human rights and strengthening democracy, agreeing with our Letter of Principles.

Ongoing Support

for Parliamentarians in the Rede A Ponte Network

With a focus on city council seats, where 89% of women begin their political careers, the program develops essential skills for navigating institutional politics, fosters support networks, and amplifies the impact of women parliamentarians in the formulation of public policies that address the needs of underrepresented groups.

Through our unique ongoing support methodology, we cover strategic areas such as legislative production, public budgeting, oversight of the executive branch, political communication, and tackling gender violence and race-based violence.

Currently, the network of parliamentarians receiving our ongoing support includes 29 city councilwomen and 11 state representatives from all regions of Brazil.

Open Resources

for any mandate committed to the defense of human rights

Wave of Bills (Maré de PLs)

The Wave of Bills is a project designed to encourage city councilwomen and state representatives to propose evidence-based bills that are sensitive to gender and racial inequalities, aimed at transforming local realities.

Are you a woman parliamentarian who wants to build a country grounded in social and environmental justice? Submit a bill through the Wave of Bills!

Budget Hotline (Disque-Orçamento)

We created a communication channel where parliamentarians can reach out to ask specific questions about public budgeting—one of the greatest challenges in legislative work. Through a WhatsApp group, we gather the questions and forward them to our specialists, who then provide answers to the parliamentarians.
